S. Lantz
S. Lantz is an artist working primarily in ceramics. They grapple with the forging and (de)construction of queer, Asian American identities through processes of translation and ornamentation. S. Lantz was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. They received a Bachelor of Arts in ceramics + sculpture from the University of Washington, Seattle, and are currently pursuing an MFA in Ceramics at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville.
Amanda and I first met at the University of Washington in 2018, when I enrolled in her Introduction to Ceramics course. I assisted Amanda in her studio in 2019 and early 2020. Most recently, Amanda and I exhibited ceramic work in a two-person show and worked alongside each other at the International Artists Residency Exchange (FR). Amanda is generous with her words and her time. She urges me to be ever more inquisitive and invested in myself and my creative practice; I am most grateful to have her support.
